Pervez Khattak asks PTI workers to unite for 2023 elections

KOHAT: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president and federal defence minister Pervez Khattak has called upon the annoyed workers of the party to forget the past and strengthen the PTI for the 2023 general elections.

He was speaking at a workers’ convention held here on Wednesday.

Mr Khattak said he felt sorry for hundreds of disgruntled workers, who were not considered for the party tickets during the first phase of the local body elections in the province, and termed them party’s asset and future. He asked the workers to start campaigning for the second phase of local body polls.

Federal minister for religious affairs Noorul Haq Qadri, chairman parliamentary committee on Kashmir Shehryar Afridi and a large number of workers were in attendance.

Later, PTI district cabinet constituted a 70-member committee to prepare guidelines for the 2023 general elections.

TRADERS’ CONCERNS: The Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry have urged the Federal Board of Revenue to remove the fears of thousands of small traders about becoming tax filers and end multiple taxation.

FPCCI’s executive council member Rasheed Paracha, KCCI senior vice-president Sufian Rehman and others called on FBR Commissioner, DI Khan region, Irfan Azeez and Assistant Commissioner, Inland Revenue Kohat, Iqbal Noor on Wednesday.

They demanded shifting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority office from Bannu to Kohat to facilitate the investors willing to set up industrial units in the district.

Mr Rasheed Paracha informed the FBR commissioner that small traders were reluctant to become filers due to multiple tax collections by the provincial and federal agencies.

MINER ELECTROCUTED: A coal miner was electrocuted at a mine in Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Akhtar Gul belonging to Shangla district.
