Major parties except PTI in Lower Dir name poll candidates

LOWER DIR: Pakistan Peoples Party here on Sunday announced the names of candidates for the slots of tehsil chairmen in the district.

According to a notification, issued by PPP provincial president Najamud Din Khan, Malik Tufail Anjum has been nominated for tehsil Khall, Sajid Iqbal for Lal Qila, Qaisar Shah for Samarbagh, Mazhar Khan for Balambat and Majid Khan has been nominated for Munda tehsil chairmanship.

The party has yet to nominate its candidates for tehsils Timergara and Adenzai. According to insiders, the remaining candidates would also be announced soon.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz also nominated Mohammad Zaman as its candidate for chairmanship of Samarbagh tehsil. The party workers and local leaders in a meeting devised a plan to run election campaign for the nominated candidate.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan, February 11 is the last date for submission of nomination papers with the returning officer. The candidates’ list will be displayed on February 12 while scrutiny of the papers would be conducted from February 14 to 16.

The review list of the candidates will be displayed on February 23 while February 25 is the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.

The election symbols will be allotted on February 28 to candidates while the elections will be held on March 27.

The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has not announced candidates so far. According to insiders, PTI is facing difficulty in nominating its candidates for tehsil chairmanship both in Lower and Upper Dir.

Also in the day, Jamaat-i-Islami nominated Rafiullah as its candidate for Dir tehsil, Hanifullah for Lar Jam, Malik Hazrat Bilal for Wari, Jehan Alam Khan for Barawal, Ziaur Rehman for Kalkot and Inayat Said for Sharingal tehsil in Upper Dir.

STUDENT: Kainat Anwar, daughter of senior journalist Syed Anwarud Din, got 464 marks in MSc chemistry part 1st examinations from University of Malakand.

She had also secured second position in BSc examinations. She attributed her success to the hard work of her teachers and the prayers of her parents.
