Jahangir Tareen denies role in SCBA petition
MARDAN: Former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Jahangir Khan Tareen has said he is not a party to the petition filed by the Supreme Court Bar Association in the apex court against the lifelong disqualification of lawmakers.
He was talking to journalists here on Sunday during a visit to Mardan district to extend condolences to the PTI provincial lawmaker Iftikhar Ali Mashwani over the death of his grandmother.
PTI MPA Abdus Salam Afridi and other local leaders were also present.
Mr Tareen told mediapersons that the SCBA lawyers neither contacted him nor made any consultations with him about the matter of filing petition against the lifelong disqualification of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and he himself.
He claimed it was the SCBA lawyers’ own decision, adding the legal fraternity was of the view that the decision of lifelong disqualification was not based on justice.
Mr Tareen deplored that the lawmakers were neither given an opportunity of appeals nor was production of evidence and proofs allowed in the said cases.
