Eight govt hospitals in Larkana being handed over to PPHI
LARKANA: The process of handing over eight government health facilities in Larkana to the Peoples Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) began on Tuesday under a memorandum of understanding it had signed with the Sindh government a few months back, sources in the health department said.
The hospitals included the 100-bed model hospital of Naudero and 50-bed hospital of Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto. The other health facilities are the taluka headquarters hospitals of Areja, Dokri and Ratodero; and rural health centres of Garello, Badah and Banguldero.
Referring to the letter No.50(B) 1-15 (PPHI)/-2019-20 dated Jan 31, 2022, the Larkana district health officer wrote to the PPHI on Monday that the eight health facilities in Larkana had to be transferred [on Feb 1].
A three-member committee has been constituted to monitor the process.
The DHO has sent copies of the letter to the health minister and secretary, director general of health, Sindh, chief executive of the PPHI, Larkana deputy commissioner and director of health services, Larkana.
The Sindh government had handed over the administrative control of these health facilities to the Integrated Health Services three years ago for a period of 10 years.
