MoU signed to provide financial aid to deserving students
ISLAMABAD: Financial support will be provided to under-privileged students of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) and Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP).
For this purpose, memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed between Pakistan Baitul Maal (PBM) and ICMAP on Wednesday. According to the agreements, 100 postgraduate students from FJWU and 50 students from ICMAP will be provided financial support every year.
A ceremony in this regard was held here in the PBM head office. PBM Managing Director Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, FJWU Director Dr Shoaib Akhtar and ICMAP Regional Director Abdul Hafeez signed the MoUs and exchanged notes.
The MoUs also affirm the association of both the educational institutions with PBM. Various social activities including celebration of international days and general public awareness campaigns about diseases and other social issues are organised at the institutions. PBM will also offer internships to students for community work across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khokhar reaffirmed the government’s commitment towards accommodating downtrodden segments of society. “We are determined to invest in youth by taking all possible measures to eliminate financial barriers to their educational track,” he said, adding the government organisation is committed towards providing support to students who have promising futures and are also willing to complete their studies but they are unable to meet expenses.
Representatives of the two institutions highly appreciated the initiative.
