Another five patients lose battle against Covid-19

RAWALPINDI: Four people died of Covid-19 in the district of Rawalpindi and one in Islamabad on Saturday.

However, positivity rate decreased to 7.55 per cent in Rawalpindi and 7.04 in the federal capital.

The District Health Authority of Rawalpindi said 1,509 samples were collected in the last 24 hours out of which 114 tested positive. Moreover, 189 patients recovered from the disease and were discharged from different hospitals in the garrison city.

Syeda Suriya Begum, 90, a resident of Police Colony, Pervaiz Akhter, 64, of Sandal Road Gujar Khan, Mohammad Hussain, 75, from Khyaban-i-Sir Syed and Mohammad Farooq, 75, from Shahbaz Colony died at the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU).

There are 2,350 active patients in the district - 117 in hospitals and 2,233 home isolated.

As many as 42 patients arrived in hospitals from different parts of Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonments, 22 from city areas and 33 from Potohar Town. Moreover, 14 cases were reported in Gujar Khan, six in Taxila, 17 in Kallar Syedan, six in Kotli Sattian and one case in Chakwal.

There are 117 patients admitted in different hospitals of Rawalpindi - eight in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, four in Holy Family Hospital, four in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, 45 in Fauji Foundation Hospital, 53 in RIU while one patient each in Attock Hospital Rawalpindi, Hearts International Hospital and Bilal Hospital.

There are five patients on ventilators, 71 are on oxygen and 41 are stable.

Islamabad

One patient passed away and 499 new cases emerged in the capital on Saturday.

Officials of the capital administration said the deceased, a woman, was in the age group of 60-69 years and a resident of G-8.

During the last 24 hours, 7,086 tests were conducted in the capital out of which 289 males and 210 females tested positive with 7.04pc positivity rate.

The officials said 133 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, 92 in 20-29, 81 in 40-49, 51 in 0-9, 48 in 50-59, 39 in 10-19, 24 in 70-79, 23 in 60-69 and eight in 80 and above.

Likewise, 22 cases were reported from Rawat, nine each from Loi Bher and F-11, eight each from G-5 and F-6, seven each from E-11, Bhara Kahu and Chak Shahzad, six each from F-8 and F-7, five each from I-8, G-10, G-13 and I-9, four from G-11, three each from G-6, G-8, Tarlai and Khanna, two each from I-10, G-7, Sohan, Rawal Town and F-17, and one each from G-9, F-10, Koral, G-15, D-12, Model Town Humak, E-7, H-13, Saidpur, E-9, H-10, and D-13.

The capital has 12,205 active cases out of whom 104 were admitted in different hospitals, 91 were on oxygen and 10 on ventilators.
