Commissioner wants Ring Road, Kutchery Chowk projects started soon

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal on Tuesday directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) officials to take steps to start work on Ring Road and Kutchery Chowk projects at the earliest.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the commissioner - who is also the RDA director general - which was attended by senior officials of the engineering and other departments.

The two projects were discussed in the meeting, with the commissioner directing the officials to assign the projects to a reputed company.

Commissioner Mengal said the Kutchery Chowk project had been approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) at an estimated cost of Rs4.7 billion and it would be the first of its kind in the country.

He said the design work of Kutchery Chowk had been completed and shifting of utility services would be completed soon. The commissioner also said the plan for Rawalpindi Ring Road’s construction from Banth to Thalianhad been given a go-ahead, adding that the 38.3km-long artery would cost Rs23.606 billion.
