Peoples Party begins reorganisation in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party on Wednesday launched its much-awaited reorganisation process in the PK-75 constituency of Peshawar, where the workers elected their office-bearers through secret ballot for a period of three and a half years.
A committee of senior activists headed by provincial senior vice-president Syed Ayub Shah supervised the election process. PPP provincial deputy information secretary Tahir Abbas, culture secretary Khwaja Yawar Naseer and Anwarzeb were its members.
Unlike past, the party workers elected the office-bearers through secret ballot after the latter had submitted their nomination papers. The office-bearers included president Pir Mohammad, general secretary Sajjad Khalil and information sectary Malik Arshad. The election on the remaining seats in the constituency will be completed within 10 days.
Ayub Shah told Dawn that elections would also be held in PK-76, PK-77, PK-78, PK-79 and other electoral constituencies. He said PPP provincial president Najamuddin Khan had assigned duties to supervisory committees in different areas in order to complete the process within one month.
The reorganisation process, he said had been launched on the instructions by party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
