Two women, child found murdered in Swat

SWAT: Two women and a child were found murdered in their house in far-flung Chaman Lalai locality of Matta tehsil in Swat district.

According to police, 80-year-old Kabalai Bibi, wife of Amir Khan; her 26-year-old daughter-in-law Jahan Begam, wife of Taj Mohammad; and five-year-old Robina Bibi, daughter of Shah Zamin, were found dead in a room of their house on Thursday morning.

Locals and police said that Amir Khan and his two sons Taj Mohammad Khan and Shah Zamin were working in Punjab to earn livelihood. They believed that all the three were killed by some wild animal.

However, SHO Tariq Khan said that all the three deceased received injuries in their heads and the rest of their bodies were not hurt. He said that an infant, who was also present in the house, was not hurt at all. He said that police were investigating the matter.

DRIVE: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority in collaboration with the livestock department on Thursday launched an operation to check quality of milk brought to the district.

The drive was launched to stop entry of adulterated milk to Swat and ensure sale of pure and quality milk for which modern mobile laboratories were set up at the checkpoints.

“Every vehicle, carrying milk and other food items, is properly checked and the items are tested before entering Swat. The testing process is carried out through a state-of-the-art laboratory in collaboration with livestock department,” said the deputy director of the authority, Asad Qasim.

He said that hundreds of litres of milk were discarded on the spot and heavy fines were imposed on the violators while legal action was taken against the owners under food safety law.

He said that the businessmen and shopkeepers who dealt with food items were first briefed on food safety. “Following the awareness, strict action is now taken against the violators,” he added.

He appealed to the people and the business community to cooperate with the authority in identifying the adulterators around them.
