Rs1.2bn being spent on road projects in Attock: minister
TAXILA: Punjab Minister for Social Welfare and Baitul Maal Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari has said through Rs1.29 billion funds provided by the federal and provincial governments, execution of 12 road projects would be carried out in various parts of Attock.
He was addressing a public meeting in Attock on the eve of the inauguration of rehabilitation work on Haji Shah-Attock road.
The 9.80-km-long road would be rehabilitated with an allocation of Rs920 million in two years.
The minister said the government was giving priority to the road sector to ensure control of fatal accidents, flow of traffic and better traveling facilities for the commuters.
He added that a 74-km road passing through different remote areas of Pindigheb, Jand and Fatehjang would be constructed at a cost of Rs4.62 billion.
The minister added that these road projects would be carried out in rural and urban areas of the district. Mr Khan said Rs12 million would be spent on the improvement of the 12km road from Jail Chowk to Sultan Chowk, Rs13.20 million on 1.25km Sanjwal factory to Tariqabad road, Rs14.150 million on rehabilitation of the 4.5km Dakhnair village road, Rs14.62 million on a causeway over Shakardara Nullah, Rs13.042 million on the 0.8km Dhoke Syedan link road and rehabilitation of 1.7km Dhoke Sanjwal road and Rs77.846 million on the rehabilitation and improvement of the 7.75km road from Choi Bungalow to Dheri Kot.
He said this road will also benefit other areas of Jand, Fatehjang and Pindigheb.
The minister said work on dualisation of Teenmela Haji Shah Road had been initiated while work on Dheri Legal Sanjwal Road, Golra Road was in progress.
He said in the education sector, 23 public schools had been upgraded while a new building of Government Girls School Sanjwal had been built as the school had been running in a rented building.
He said provision of basic amenities and latest municipal services to the masses was the top priority of the government. He said that the PTI leadership was well aware that inflation had hit the masses and that was why the government was providing billions of rupees’ relief to control inflation.
