Robbers, burglars strike at 55 places in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Robbers, burglars and thieves struck at 55 places in the garrison city, lifting 11 motorcycles, a rickshaw and snatching cash and valuables from citizens. All the cases were registered with the police on Saturday.

Raheel Ilyas complained to the New Town police that he was standing along 7th Road when two motorcycle riders held him at gunpoint and snatched Rs13,000 and a mobile phone and sped off.

Noor Hussain, a grocery shop owner in Sadiqabad, was robbed of Rs45,000 by two armed men while unidentified persons snatched a mobile phone and Rs10,000 from Abid Hussain in Sadiqabad.

Asim Firdous complained to the Morgah police that he was on way home from a hospital when two persons snatched Rs22,000 and a mobile phone from him and escaped.

Raja Saqib, a resident of Bahria Town Phase 8, complained to the Rawat police that he had gone to visit his relatives after locking his house. On his return, he found the locks of his house broken and Rs70,000, eight tola gold jewellery, two wrist watches, mobile phones and a gold ring stolen.

Syed Ahsan Bukhari’s mobile phone was snatched by two motorcycle riders at gunpoint in Pirwadhai, Inayatur Rehman also lodged a similar compliant with the Pirwadhai police while Qasim Fiaz, a resident of Bangash Colony, was taken at gunpoint by two persons and deprived of his mobile phone and Rs60,000.

Abdul Karim complained to the Waris Khan police that burglars broke into his house and stole Rs20,000 and gold jewellery worth Rs200,000. Waqas Alam complained to the Naseerabad police that he was standing along a road with his friend when a motorcycle rider snatched two mobile phones and Rs10,000 from them.

Hafiz Ali and Mohammad Jehangir, residents of Naseerabad, were deprived of their mobile phones and cash by two robbers. Mohammad Shahrooz, a resident of Bahria Town Phase 7, complained to the Rawat police that he along with his four friends were sitting in a garden when three persons snatched their mobile phones and Rs18,000 along with ATM cards.

Kashif Bashir, Abid Ali, Shafiq Ahmad, Malik Abdul Nasir, Mohammad Irfan, Noman, Irfan Saleem, Mohammad Usman, Omer Baig and Abdullah Khan were among those whose motorcycles were lifted in various parts of the city.
