MoU inked to celebrate culture day

LAHORE: The Information and Culture Department and the Schools Education Department (SED) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Thursday to celebrate culture day.

Provincial Minister for Culture and Colonies Khayal Ahmed Castro and Minister for School Education Murad Raas signed the MoU. Punjab Information and Culture Secretary Raja Jahangir Anwar also attended the function.

The minister said the true colours of Punjabi culture would be shown to the world and colourful traditional culture day celebrations would be held in all schools across the province.

He said the government had formulated a policy for the protection of culture and related institutions.

“Punjabi art and culture is being promoted and developed through education and training. Steps are being taken to nurture the creative and cultural abilities of the youth so that they can get employment opportunities,” he said.

The main purpose of celebrating the day at the official level was to work for the revival and promotion of traditional folk festivals of Punjab.
