Jhimpir–II wind power grid energized

LAHORE: The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has completed and energized 220/132 kV Jhimpir –II, Nooriabad (Hyderabad) grid station.

The project will add power to the national grid generated after evacuating this from the wind power plants in Jhimpir wind cluster.

“We are completing all ongoing projects on war-footing-basis in a bid to enhance capacity of our power transmission, despatch and distribution system,” said NTDC Managing Director Engr Manzoor Ahmad while speaking at the grid opening ceremony at Nooriabad after he switched it on, on Sunday.

The grid station and allied transmission lines will evacuate clean renewable energy from 10 upcoming & future wind power plants located at Jhimpir wind corridor. Three transformers (each having 250MVA capacity) have been installed at the grid. The total cost incurred on the project is Rs10.753 billion.

“The project has sufficient capacity to also transmit additional power in future. It will strengthen reliability of NTDC transmission network and improve voltage profile in the network of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company,” he maintained.
