Jhimpir-II grid station at Nooriabad inaugurated

ISLAMABAD: The National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) on Sunday energised a 220/132 kV grid station, Jhimpir-II, at Nooriabad industrial town, near Hyderabad.

The grid station would add power to the national grid generated through wind power plants in the Jhimpir wind cluster, said a press release.

NTDC managing director Engineer Manzoor Ahmad said at the energisation ceremony that the Jhimpir-II grid station completed at a cost of Rs10.753 billion and allied transmission lines would evacuate clean and renewable energy from 10 upcoming and future wind power plants in the Jhimpir wind corridor.

He said that three transformers of 250 MVA each had been installed at the grid station, which would have sufficient capacity to transmit additional power in future. It would strengthen reliability of NTDC transmission network and improve voltage profile in network of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco), he said.

He said that in compliance of the directions of the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) and Board of Directors, the NTDC was completing its ongoing projects on a war footing to enhance its transmission system.
