Aiwan-i-Iqbal in Sialkot demanded

SIALKOT, Nov 28: Prof Asghar Saudai, the creator of slogan ‘Pakistan ka matlab kia’, has urged the government to establish ‘Aiwan-i-Iqbal’ in Sialkot on the pattern of Lahore. Talking to reporters here on Monday, Prof Saudai expressed his grave concern over the negligence of successive governments for not paying attention to the dilapidated residence of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

He stressed the need for the promotion of Iqbaliyaat urging the government to launch Ph.D classes on the subject at the Government Murray College, Sialkot, the alma mater of Allama Iqbal. Prof Saudai said there was an acute shortage of classrooms and teaching and clerical staff in the Government Murray College. Besides, he said, the college also lacked basic facilities for quite sometime.

He said the 116-year-old college building required a sum of at least Rs10 million for its immediate repair and renovation.
