RCB plans to raise water connection charges

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has formed a three-member committee to revise the rate for water connection in the cantonment areas as the civic body claims that the charges have not been revised since 1989.

The board also formed six other committees including assessment , building , arbitration, education and bazaar committees.

The decisions were taken in the meeting held under the chairmanship of Station Commander Brigadier Salman Nazar and was attended by RCB Cantonment Executive Officer Imran Gulzar, Vice President Malik Munir and other senior officials. In the meeting, the board gave approval to the expenses incurred on the treatment of 15 cantonment board employees and their families.

The board also approved installation of iron waste bins in the cantonment area, installing roller blinds for the cantonment general hospital Covid-19 and ICU ward and purchase of 10 bush cutter machines for horticulture branch.

It also gave approval to transfer of various properties in bazaar area in cantonment areas, impose composition fee on properties which violated building plans of Kent Residential Properties.

It also decided to construct Underground water Tank in Cantonment General Hospital for storage of rain water for horticultural purposes. Apart from this, the meeting decided to recruit staff nurses in Cantonment General Hospital. Station Commander Brigadier Salman Nazar said the civic body would ensure the provision of better civic facilities to the residents. He said the cantonment areas should be neat and clean so people would see the difference.

Talking about desilting of Khanpur Dam left bank canal, he asked the engineering branch to improve the conduction of the canal so the people could get clean water.
