Power to railway stations cut over supply line dispute
NAROWAL: The Gujranwala Electric Power Company severed electricity supply to Sialkot, Gujranwala, Wazirabad and Narowal railway stations and colonies over a dispute of laying a 132Kv line.
Gepco Executive Engineer Muhammad Amjad Ansari said staffers were laying 132Kv supply line on the railway track at Sabowala near Sambrial tehsil when railway police personnel stopped them from laying power lines.
He said the railway police had been informed of permission taken from the PR authorities. He said when Gepco employees reached the railway police station with the NOC from Pakistan Railways, the police arrested line superintendent Muhammad Aqeel and registered an FIR against him and locked him up.
Ansari said the railway police were asked to release the line superintendent but they did not do so. As a result employees union in Sialkot cut power supply to Gujranwala-Wazirabad railway junction, Narowal station and railway colonies.
