Man killed in festive firing at Charsadda wedding
CHARSADDA: One person was killed and three others were injured during celebratory firing at a wedding ceremony here on Sunday.
According to police and local residents, Akram, who was a drug addict, opened fire during a walima function of his cousin at Haleemzai area of Shabqadar and as a result his brother Imran and three of his cousins got bullet injuries. The injured were rushed to the tehsil headquarter hospital Shabqadar where his brother Imran succumbed to his injuries. His two other injured cousins Rehman and Amjad were referred to a Peshawar hospital in precarious condition.
BOYCOTT: While boycotting the polio vaccination drive, the residents of Koz Behram Dheri union council of Tangi tehsil continued their sit-in on Sunday, demanding restoration of electricity from Malakand grid, which was suspended three months back.
The elders of Behram Dheri announced to continue their boycott and sit-in depriving over 1,600 children of five years age of polio drops after the government failed to fulfil their demand.
Local elders announced Rs10,000 fine on the parents defying a local jirga decree not to get their children vaccinated against polio. The elders also stopped polio teams from entering the locality. They said no polio teams would be allowed till their demand was met.
Addressing the protesters, former union council nazim Maazullah Khan, Asim Gujjar and others said the UC was facing severe water shortage owing to power disconnection. They claimed that Pesco was making 90 per cent recovery from the union council but despite that the power consumers were suffering badly.
Meanwhile, ADC Sania Safi, AC Tangi and other officials held negotiations with the elders led by Maazullah Khan and appealed them to end their boycott but they didn’t agree and decided to continue their boycott until their demand met.
