‘Managing ties with US, China urgent security priority’

ISLAMABAD: If relations between the US and China deteriorated further, the number of issues on which Pakistan will be expected by both the US and China to side with them will inevitably increase.

“Managing its relationships with both countries and navigating the tricky implications of this competition is an urgent national security priority for Pakistan,” read the findings of Tabadlab’s latest working paper “Navigating the stormy Indo-Pacific: how The Quad, AUKUS and US-China competition shape Pakistani choices.”

Authored by journalist Ejaz Haider, the working paper examines the evolving relationship between the United States and China and its geopolitical repercussions on Pakistan.

According to a press release, the paper outlines the recent history of and origins of The Quad, AUKUS and the important role of Japan and Australia in shaping the wider geopolitical challenges that Pakistan faces in an increasingly polarised global environment.
