Two held in Dera Ismail Khan with 490kg drugs
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Anti-Narcotics Force here on Friday foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs from Balochistan to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by arresting two traffickers and seizing 490 kilogrammes of drugs from them.
An ANF spokesman Ehsanul Haq told Dawn that the force’s intelligence wing had received reports of large-scale drug trafficking from Balochistan to Dera Ismail Khan via Zhob.
He said that during search of a suspicious truck, over 490kg of drugs, including 4.250kg ice, 447.6kg hashish and 38.4kg of opium hidden in the truck’s fuel tank were recovered.
The ANP spokesman said that Hafeezullah and Jahangir, both residents of Pishin, were arrested. He said that cases had been registered against them under the Anti-Narcotics Act.
Meanwhile, the police enhanced the security of mosques and imambargahs during the Friday prayers in the wake of a suicide bomb blast at a mosque in Peshawar last week.
A police spokesman said that strict security arrangements were made for mosques and imambargahs across the city for ensuring smooth holding of the Friday congregations.
He said the district police officer also visited various mosques and imambargahs in the city to review the security arrangements.
