Hyderabad to get 300 police personnel: DIG

HYDERABAD: DIG Pir Mohammad Shah has emphasised the need for revival of the ‘action task force’ and fresh recruitment in the Sindh police. He said ‘Madadgar’ police helpline would have to be restored to address grievances of traders and the general public.

He was speaking to members of the business community at the office of the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Industry on Saturday.

Responding to the community’s complaints, he said the overall crime graph in the city was under control due to the performance of SSP Sajid Sadozai. Big gangs in the city had already been busted, he said. However, he admitted, street crime needed to be brought under control. The DIG said that 300 policemen would be made available to Hyderabad by the end of this month. He agreed with the Chamber office-bearers that installation of close circuit television (CCTV) cameras at police stations was necessary.

He called for the setting up of a committee to serve as a ‘strong bridge’ between police and the general public, including traders, in order to build trust. For elimination of street crime, the traffic police along with Madadgar staff were conducting snap checking, he said, and pointed out that police were also engaged in providing

security at political events which had put additional burden on the strength of personnel.
