Three suspected carjackers killed in New Karachi ‘encounter’
KARACHI: The Anti-Vehicles Lifting Cell (AVLC) of the police claimed to have killed three suspected carjackers in an alleged encounter in a New Karachi area on Monday evening.
The police alleged that they had snatched three cars at gunpoint from different parts of the city earlier in the day.
AVLC SSP Tariq Nawaz said that the police were tracking the three suspects after they snatched a car at gunpoint from a man on main Rashid Minhas Road near now demolished Aladdin Park in the morning.
He said that the suspects snatched two more cars from Jauhar Mor in Gulistan-i-Jauhar and Surjani Town.

With the help of technology, police traced their location and started following them, he said, adding that the police team intercepted them when they reached near Power House Chowrangi in New Karachi.
The SSP said the carjackers opened fire in a bid to escape. During an exchange of gunfire, the suspects suffered bullet wounds and were arrested in an injured condition. No policemen was hurt in their firing.
The suspects were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.
They were identified as Inayatullah Bugti, Ghulam Mustafa and Jawaid Ali.
The police claimed to have recovered one snatched Toyota Corolla and weapons from their custody.
The AVLC chief said the killed suspects had also past criminal record. He said concerted efforts were under way to recover the other two snatched cars.
Meanwhile, the Keamari police on Monday claimed to have arrested a man for stealing motorbikes and selling them in Balochistan.
The Madina Colony police arrested Abdul Hafeez and recovered a stolen bike from him.
He was also arrested in the past and got released on bail.
During initial grilling, the suspect disclosed that he used to get Rs2,000 for shifting the stolen bike to Balochistan.
