Five transgender persons injured in Mansehra firing

MANSEHRA: Five transgender persons were injured as a man fired at them in Upper Channia area here on Sunday night.

The attacker, Sabteen Khan, fled after firing but was arrested by the police afterwards.

Leader of transgender persons Nadra Khan told reporters on Monday that condition of the four injured, including Sumiro, Tulsi, Muna and Kaif, was critical, so they’re shifted to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad.

She said the injured underwent surgeries but their condition continued to be serious.

Ms Nadra said the attacker got upset and opened fire after a man showed up to meet a transgender person, who was the former’s friend.

SSP Jamil Akhtar said the police had arrested the accused and were quizzing him about the gun attack.

MEDICINES SEIZED: The district administration and health department on Monday seized a large quantity of banned, spurious and expired medicines during raids on pharmacies in Baffa town and its suburbs. Owners of those drugstores were also fined.

Baffa-Pakhal assistant commissioner Arshad Khan told reporters that the raids were carried out in Baffa Doraha, Baffa Town and adjoining areas.

He said the crackdown on banned, spurious and expired medicines would be extended to other parts of the tehsil.

The official also warned pharmacies of sealing over the sale of such drugs.

Meanwhile, assistant commissioner Marvi Malik Sher chaired a meeting of different departments to finalise names of Muslim and non-Muslim clerics for the payment of monthly stipend.
