Lopsided results in junior tennis

LAHORE: One-sided encounters dominated the second day of the Sapphire Punjab Junior Tennis Championship here at the Punjab Tennis Academy Bagh-e-Jinnah on Tuesday.

Zaeem Ghafoor thrashed Hasnain Ali 8-2 in a match of the boys’ under-18 singles while Ashtafila Arif vanquished Amna Attaria 8-0 in the girls’ under-18 clash.

Top seed Asad Zaman and Amir Mazari racked up 8-0 wins over Eesa Bilal and Sohan Noor respectively in the boys’ under-16 singles.

Zohaib Afzal Malik cruised past Aalay Hussain 8-4 while Umer Jawad blanked Imam Bari 8-0 in the boys’ under-14 singles. Zohaib enjoyed an 8-0 rout against Haris Bajwa in the boys & girls’ under-12 singles where Abdur Rehman trounced Bismil Zia 8-0, Ismail Aftab hammered Hajra Sohail 8-1 and Umer beat Aalay 8-0.

In the boys& girls’ under-10 singles, Hajra blew away Taha Asad 8-0 while Mustafa Uzair toppled Ahsan Bari 8-0.
