Swabi admin urged to check profiteering

SWABI: Leaders of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl and Jamaat-i-Islami here have demanded of the district administration to constitute price control committees to check profiteering in the district.

In separate meetings here on Wednesday, leaders of the two religious parties said that prices of essential commodities were slashedduring Ramazan in other Muslim countries, but in Pakistan the rates of all items were increased manifold.

JUI-F central deputy chief Maulana Fazal Ali said that the district administration should play its due role to ensure availability of essential commodities at reasonable prices.

He said that on the one hand inflation had skyrocketed during Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government, on the other there was no check on traders who had been fleecing people.

The JUI-F leader said that the district administration officials should protect rights of the consumers while performing their duty.

JI district chief Mian Iftikharuddin Bacha said that the government had left people at the mercy of business community who charged consumers according to their will. He added that this practice should be stopped.

He said that keeping check on the prices of essential commodities was duty of the district administration.

KILLED: A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate here on Wednesday.

Sultan Sher was seriously injured when his motorcycle collided with a truck and later succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

An FIR has been registered against the truck driver who escaped after the accident.

Earlier, a man was killed by unidentified attackers in Khunda village of Chota Lahor tehsil the other day.

The victim identified as Atif Khan was on way home when the assailants targeted him. Brother of the deceased registered an FIR in Chota Lahor City police station. He said that they had no enmity with anyone.
