BHC asks FC to help find kidnapped man

QUETTA, Dec 1: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court has directed the commandant of Pishin scout wing of the Frontier Corps to cooperate with the Levies in their efforts to recover a kidnapped man. The bench comprising Chief Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Mehta Kalash Nath Kohli issued orders to the militia commandant following submission of a report by the administrative officer of Qila Abdullah that Levies had raided the abductor’s house but failed to recover Noor Mohammad and needed extra personnel.

The petitioner, Sultan Bibi, had submitted that her son, Noor Mohammad, was kidnapped from Kharotabad suburb of Quetta on August 27 and his captor had kept him in Qila Abdullah district demanding a huge ransom for his release.

EMBEZZLEMENT: Balochistan’s Minister for Sports Colonel (retd) Mohammad Younus Changezi rejected on Thursday allegations about embezzlement of National Games funds and said he was ready for an impartial probe into the matter.

He said at a press conference that he had submitted a report on financial and administrative affairs of the 29th National Games within 20 days of the games, and also requested the provincial government for a special audit.

Although he had submitted the necessary details in time, he said, the officials concerned had not forwarded them to the higher authorities. Because of this, the federal government stopped a grant of Rs5 million it had earlier approved for the Balochistan Sports Board.

“I am ready to hand over the National Games accounts to the National Accountability Bureau for inquiry,” Mr Ghangezi said.

CHECK-POST HIT: A Levies check-post in the Margat area of Mach tehsil has been hit by mortar shells, damaging its rooms.

However, no casualty was reported.

The Levies officials of the Bolan district confirmed the firing of 10 mortar shells on the check-post on Thursday.

The official accused the Mari tribesmen for targeting the check-post in the coalmine area.
