National Party rejects Reko Diq agreement

QUETTA: National Party (NP) chief Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has said the Reko Diq agreement recently signed by federal and provincial governments is not acceptable to his party until its details are made public.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Dr Baloch said no detailed discussion with Chief Minister Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo on Reko Diq could be held as he was not in the city when the chief minister contacted him for the multiparty conference on the issue.

Referring to political situation in the country, the NP chief said the country would now move towards clean and transparent elections, which was also the demand of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

He said the PDM wanted the country to be run in accordance with the Constitution.

He said the country now needed new elections, adding that the NP had been involved in the struggle of the PDM and “we have implemented their decisions. If the PDM behaves like current rulers, we will part our ways”.

During the press conference, former deputy general secretary of BSO Jamil Baloch, along with his colleagues, announced joining the National Party.
