Three killed in Bannu firing incidents

LAKKI MARWAT: Three people, including a woman, were killed in separate firing incidents in Bannu on Wednesday.

Police said that one Fodmeena Bibi was shot dead by unknown armed men in her house in Mianoor Janikhel area. They said the body was taken to the DHQ hospital for postmortem.

The Janikhel police registered a case against unknown killers on the complaint of Nazia Bibi, the deceased’s daughter-in-law.

Separately, eight-year-old Ali died instantly after receiving serious bullet injuries when a pistol he was playing with went off accidentally in Mandan area. The local police began investigation after registration of the case.

In another incident, one Rafi Jan was gunned down over a petty dispute in Taji Kallay.

Jan’s father Samiullah nominated Rehmat Ayaz and Mubarak Shah in the case, telling police that his son and the suspects had exchanged harsh words a few days ago.

Miryakhel police have registered a case against the alleged killers.

TRAINING SESSION: A special training session was arranged for the police officials at the Iqbal Shaheed Police Lines in Bannu city on Wednesday to sensitise them about different aspects of the election duty.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has set up 25 polling stations for the displaced families of North Waziristan in Bannu district. Over 350 police personnel will perform security duty to maintain a peaceful atmosphere at and around the polling stations.

District police officer Imran Shahid, DSPs and officials of special branch were also present at the session.

Meanwhile, ASI Jalil Khan who was martyred on Tuesday was laid to rest with full official honours at his ancestral graveyard in Shahbazkhel village of Lakki Marwat on Wednesday. RPO Ashfaq Anwar, DPO Imran Shahid and other police officials also attended his funeral.

ENCROACHMENTS REMOVED: The tehsil municipal administration of Naurang launched an anti-encroachment operation in Serai Gambila town of Lakki Marwat on Wednesday.

An official said that a TMA squad removed illegal structures and parking stands on both sides of the Indus Highway.
