China ensures best health facilities for city hospitals
LAHORE: Chinese Consul General Peng Zhengwu has said that as Beijing always incentivises social and medical cooperation with Islamabad, the Chinese Consulate in Lahore is making all-out efforts to ensure health facilities for hospitals in the provincial metropolis with the passion of brotherhood and affability.
He expressed these views on the opening of the upgraded Neonatology Unit and Central Oxygen system at the Lady Aitchison Hospital carried out with a Chinese special grant in collaboration with a local NGO here on Friday.
The Chinese diplomat announced that more and more projects would be initiated for the benefit of the local society under the CPEC framework to consolidate relations between all-weather strategic partners.
The diplomat said that it is an honour for him to help do something for the hospital. He hoped the project would be remembered as a gesture of friendship between China and Pakistan.
“It is an exchange of love between our people. It is based on mutual trust and respect. Our friendship is time-tested and will continue in the future.”
Lady Aitchison Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Iqbal Shahid said that 150 years old historical Lady Aitchison Hospital with 200 beds manages deliveries of around 1000 babies per month.
“It needed an upgrade of the Neonatology Unit’s central oxygen system over the last many years. The required upgrade through the Chinese donation will help mitigate the incidence of mortality of newborn babies,” he added.
