Teachers protest nonpayment

NUSHKI: Several female teachers from the Basic Education Community Schools held a demonstration outside the Nushki Press Club on Saturday against nonpayment of their salaries for the last 10 months.

The protesters also asked the government to regularise their jobs following the court’s orders to do so.

After chanting slogans in favour of their demands, the protesters also addressed a press conference.

Ms Tanzania and Najam Yousaf told reporters that 33 female teachers had been performing their duties for the last 18 years in Nushki district, but unfortunately their jobs had not been regularised even after the court had given orders in this regard.

They said the teachers were facing a serious financial crisis due to nonpayment of their salaries for 10 months. They termed the nonpayment of salaries an unjust act.

Teachers would block the RCD Highway in protest and hold demonstrations outside the offices of departments concerned if their demands are not accepted, they said.
