Profiteers fined in Abbottabad
ABBOTTABAD: The administration sent six shopkeepers to jail and fined 12 for overcharging customers here on Monday.
Also, notices and arrest warrants were issued to eight shopkeepers, who fled during the raid by a special team comprising police and food department officials.
The crackdown on profiteering led by additional assistant commissioner Ameenul Hassan came on the people’s complaints about the violation of the rate lists issued by the district price committee for essential items for the current month of fasting.
The assistant commissioner has warned shopkeepers and traders against charging people more than the prices fixed by the committee and said those found flouting the official price lists would be fined and imprisoned.
DEATH SENTENCE: The anti-terrorism court awarded death sentence along with three years imprisonment and Rs1 million fine to each of the two people convicted of a minor girl’s abduction and murder the other day.
The girl was kidnapped in Jhangi area here for ransom before being killed in Dec 2016.Her body was found in a gunnysack.
The police registered a case of kidnapping and murder against two accused, including Hasan Ali and Tauseef.
The ATC announced the verdict after hearing arguments by both defence and prosecution counsel. Atif Khan Jadoon was the lawyer for the girl’s family, which filed the case.
