Islamabad reports just one Covid case

ISLAMABAD: Health officials on Monday reported only one Covid-19 case in the federal capital, making it the lowest single-day tally since the emergence of pandemic in early 2020.

On the other hand, only two cases surfaced in Rawalpindi district on Monday.

According to an official of the Ministry of National Health Services, though the figure in Islamabad remained high during the past months, the declining trend was observed in the last few days.

He said that as many as seven cases were reported on Sunday while seven cases were recorded on Saturday. He added so far 135,127 peopel have been infected with the virus in federal capital and 1,023 succumbed to the virus while 134,029 patients had been recovered.

The official said that the local administration had prepared a plan to regularly examine marriage halls, markets, and petrol pumps by its inspection teams to monitor the implementation of SOPs.

He said that several local administrative decisions were being made to completely control the disease. He advised citizens to follow precautionary measures to stop the increasing transmission of Covid-19 in the city.

Meanwhile, as per the latest data released by the Rawalpindi District Health Authority on Monday, one case had arrived from Taxila and the other from Potohar town . Presently, only one confirmed patient is admitted in the Bilal Hospital, said the data.

In addition, the report said 24 were quarantined, including 23 at homes and one at isolation centre. The report further said that 6,760,420 people, including 44,710 health workers, had received the jab against the coronavirus across the district since the vaccination administering drive launched on March 10,2021.

The report added that the positivity rate was recorded at 0.39 per cent during the last 24 hours.
