South Punjab camp office closed since Buzdar’s resignation

MUZAFFARGARH: Since the resignation of Usman Buzdar, the camp office of south Punjab secretariat in Taunsa Sharif has been closed.

On Feb 10, [the then chief minister] Usman Buzdar through a directive asked each secretary of south Punjab secretariat to visit Taunsa Sharif once a week and address people’s issues.

To begin with, south Punjab secretary for housing Javed Akbar Mahmood and secretary irrigation Amir Khattak had met with the people to resolve their problems.

The assistant commissioner’s office had housed the camp office.

Talking to Dawn, a secretary said: “After the change in government, we are not visiting Taunsa and waiting for fresh instructions.”

Earlier, south Punjab secretary for housing Javed Akbar Mahmood, irrigation secretary Amir Khattak and agriculture secretary Saqib Ali Ateel had listened to the problems of citizens and issued orders once a week in February.

The secretary said weekly reports had been sent to Usman Buzdar. Javed Akbar Mehmood said ‘open door policy’ was being implemented on the direction of additional chief secretary, south Punjab.

He said the schedule of duties of secretaries had been issued but now the visits are closed and the office of assistant commissioner is open for Taunsa Sharif AC.

It merits mentioning that the primary and secondary health and local government secretaries had also visited the camp office in February and the middle of March.
