Election dispute leaves five hurt in Gujranwala
GUJRANWALA, Dec 4: As many as five people, including four women, were shot at and injured by a union council nazim and his accomplices over election row at Talwandi Musa Khan village on Sunday.
Reports said Muhammad Nawaz’s nephew Imran died and people were gathered at his house when UC Nazim Chaudhry Irfan along with his accomplices came there and opened fire.
As a result, Muhammad Nawaz, Hamidan Bibi, Bushra Bibi, Nasreen Bibi and Kubra Bibi sustained injuries.
They were taken to the DHQ hospital in a critical condition. The Saddar police have registered a case against the nazim and his accomplices.
KILLS MOTHER: An addict stabbed to death his mother and wounded his sister on Sunday for being denied money for drugs in Chak Khalil, Kamoki.
Reports said Imran had already sold the dowry of his sister and other household items for buying drugs. On Sunday, he again demanded money from his mother Robina Bibi, but she admonished him and refused to give any amount. He fell into a rage and attacked her mother with a knife, killing her on the spot.
He also stabbed his sister Jamila Bibi when she came to the rescue of her mother. She was rushed to the local Civil Hospital in critical condition.
Police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating.
ARRESTED: Two highwaymen were arrested by Ghakkhar police when they were fleeing after snatching a motorcycle on Kot Noora Road on Sunday.
Muhammad Imran of Rahwali was on his way by his motorcycle when three armed robbers intercepted him. They snatched the bike from him and escaped. On receiving information, the police chased the bandits and arrested two of them after a brief encounter while their third accomplice Khalid beat a retreat. The arrested robbers were identified as Abdul Aziz and Kashif.
Police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating.
