Woman beaten up, robbed of jewellery in capital
ISLAMABAD: A woman was beaten up by robbers while culprits looted cash and valuables, including 18 vehicles, worth millions of rupees from different parts of the capital, police said on Saturday.
The woman had gone to Alipur where another woman offered her a ride in her car. When she embarked on the vehicle, the woman along with her two accomplices beat her up and snatched gold ornaments from her.
She was subjected to torture and also asked to make a call to her family to arrange money for her release, said the police.
However, due to the torture, the woman fell unconscious after which the culprits threw her at Ghouri Town and escaped.
In another incident, three robbers raided a bakery at Pindorian and held up the shopkeepers and looted Rs12,000 and mobile phones.
Four robbers held up Ikramullah Butt near a picket at I-10/1 and snatched Rs22,500 and a mobile phone from him while Mohammad Zeeshan was robbed of Rs2,000 and a mobile phone by two robbers at Ghouri Town.
Similarly, a robber deprived a man of a vehicle, Rs10,000 and a mobile phone. A robber in the disguise of passenger booked a motorcycle from Sabzi Mandi and took it away along with cash and a mobile phone from the owner on gunpoint after reaching the wheat godown.
Burglars took away batteries and lights worth Rs500,000 along with Rs50,000 cash from a spare-part shop.
Thieves also stole 27 tola gold ornaments from a house at I-8/3.
As many as 18 mobile phones, Rs100,000 cash and mobile phone cards from a shop at Bahria Town.
Meanwhile, five vehicles and 11 motorcycles were also stolen in different areas of the capital, said the police.
