Killing of man sparks protest in Swabi

SWABI: Killing of a man by unidentified motorcyclists sparked a protest in Razaar tehsil here on Sunday.

Officials in Kalu Khan police station and family of the deceased told mediapersons that Ihsanullah Khan of Ahad Khan village was shot dead by two unidentified motorcyclists at Shewa Adda, tehsil headquarters of Razaar tehsil.

He was seriously injured and succumbed to his injuries on way to the tehsil headquarters hospital. His killing sparked a protest where people of the region demanded provision of security.

The relatives and area people placed the body on Swabi-Mardan road near Shewa Adda, blocking it to traffic. They demanded the police to take prompt action to trace and arrest the killers.

Muslima Bibi said that her husband was a peaceful person and they had no enmity with anyone. The commuters faced problems because there was no alternative route and they were forced to wait forend of the blockade.

Later, the protesters took the dead body for burial when police assured them that the killers would be arrested soon. The widow has registered an FIR in Kalu Khan police station.

POWER OUTAGES: Local people here strongly protested power outages at Taraveeh and Sehr times on Sunday.

They said that during the last eight years it was the first time that theyfaced power outages at Sehr time.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz former MPA Shiraz Khan said in a meeting on Sundaythat Pesco worked under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and it was carrying out power outages to defame the new federal government.

HASHISH SEIZED: Police foiled a bid to smuggle over four kilogrammes of hashish to Punjab on a motorcycle and arrested an alleged smuggler on Sunday.

The police identified the arrested person as Subhanullah, a resident of Swat.

Following a tip-off, Topi SHO Ayub Khan along with a police team stopped the motorcyclist for checking and recovered 4.24 kilogrammes of hashish from him. They have registered a case against him.
