HBL posts Rs8.3bn quarterly earnings

KARACHI: Habib Bank Ltd posted an unconsolidated profit of Rs8.29 billion in the January-March quarter, almost unchanged from a year ago.

A stock market notice on Wednesday showed the bank also declared a cash dividend of Rs2.25 per share.

Net markup income of the lender amounted to Rs33.16bn, up 10.3pc from a year ago.

UBL profit jumps 24pc

United Bank Ltd announced on Wednesday its consolidated earnings for the first quarter of 2022 amounted to Rs9.39bn, which was up 23.8pc on an annual basis.

The bank also announced a dividend of Rs5 per share. The rise in earnings on an annual basis was due to a jump in total income coupled with a decline in provisioning, said Arif Habib Ltd in a research note.

Its share price rose 1.35pc to Rs141.96 on the stock exchange.

Income of HMB up 11pc

Unconsolidated income of Habib Metropolitan Bank Ltd for the first three months of 2022 totalled Rs3.58bn, up 11.1pc from the same quarter of 2021.

In a stock filing on Wednesday, the bank showed its net markup income rose 4.92pc to Rs7.73bn while non-markup income increased 54.7pc to Rs3.34bn in the quarter under review.

The bank didn’t announce any cash dividend. Its share price rose 1.08pc to Rs47.01 apiece.

ABL profit rises 20pc

Allied Bank Ltd posted a net unconsolidated profit of Rs4.82bn in January-March, up 19.8pc from a year ago. A regulatory filing said the bank also declared a cash dividend of Rs2 per share.

Its net markup income rose 16.2pc to Rs12.54bn while non-markup income amounted to Rs4.1bn, up 6.5pc on an annual basis.

Its share price decreased 2.25pc to Rs81.13 apiece on the stock exchange.

Askari Bank earnings go up 31pc

Unconsolidated profit of Askari Bank Ltd grew 31.4pc year-on-year to Rs3.6bn in the first quarter of 2022, a stock market notice showed on Wednesday.

Net markup income of the lender rose 11pc to Rs8.45bn while non-markup income registered little change over the year and clocked in at Rs2.52bn.

The bank didn’t declare any dividend. Its stock closed at Rs19.57 apiece, up 1.29pc from a day ago.

Maple Leaf profit drops 73pc

Maple Leaf Cement Factory Ltd told investors on Wednesday its unconsolidated profit for the January-March quarter remained Rs1.2bn, down 73pc from a year ago.

The result was in line with the expectation of AKD Securities. The company’s revenue increased 27pc on an annual basis mainly because of an increase in prices on the back of international coal rates.

Frieslandcampina bottom line grows

Net profit of Frieslandcampina Engro Pakistan Ltd amounted to Rs663.7 million in the first quarter of 2022, up 21.4pc from a year ago.

A stock notice showed the food company grew its revenue 20.67pc to Rs13.9bn in the period under review.

There was no announcement of a cash dividend.
