Three killed in Swabi incidents
SWABI: Three people were killed in various incidents in Swabi on Thursday.
A 25-year-old girl was killed when a cylinder exploded in their kitchen in the far-flung Ghulama village here. Police said the girl was busy in cooking when the cylinder exploded and she suffered burn injuries. Later, she succumbed to her injuries.
In another case, Hamza Khan of Naro Amazai village allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol inside his house. His father told police that they rushed to his room when they heard gunshots and found him lying in a pool of blood. He died on the spot.
The cause of the incident was stated to be Hamza’s differences with his family over some domestic issue.
In Yar Hussain area, a cattle dealer identified as Imtiaz Khan was killed over a trivial issue.
Officials in Yar Hussain police station told this scribe that Imtiaz was sitting at his farm when Fazal Karim came and started negotiations with him about buying and selling cattle.
They suddenly started abusing each other and Karim allegedly opened fire on Imtiaz, killing him on the spot. Asad Khan, a local resident, was injured in the incident.
MEETING AT GIK INSTITUTE: Economic and trade activities have gained momentum in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the launching of Rashakai Special Economic Zone under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
This was stated by The Millennium University College, Islamabad, rector Prof Dr Mohammad Ali Saeed during his talks with Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, rector of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, here on Thursday.
The meeting was also attended by faculty members, deans, directors and students of the institute.
Prof Saeed was briefed about different disciplines of engineering and management sciences taught in the GIK Institute, digitalisation process of the institute, smart classes, courses offered to the students, student activities, interdisciplinary project, faculty training, budget allocation, computer laboratories, co-curricular activities and initiatives to impart contemporary knowledge to the youth.
