KARACHI: As many as eight suspected robbers were shot at and wounded in ‘encounters’ occurred in different parts of the metropolis on Saturday, said police.

One alleged dacoit was arrested in an injured condition after an encounter off National Highway.

The Shah Latif Town police said that four dacoits were fleeing after committing a robbery. The police chased and caught them up in Pathan Colony near Khoi Goth.

The suspects opened fire on the police.

The police returned fire in which one suspect identified as Bashir Khan was wounded and taken into custody. His three alleged accomplices managed to escape.

The wounded man was taken to the ABH.

The police claimed to have recovered one 9mm pistol along with five rounds, snatched mobile phone, one motorbike and some cash from him.

In another incident in Buffer Zone, two suspects were arrested in wounded condition after an encounter.

Taimuria police said that an ‘encounter’ between police and robbers took place near Namak Bank.

After an exchange of fire, two suspects, including one with injuries, were arrested. The injured was identified as Allah Ditta, 28, and other was Naseer Ahmed, 26. The police claimed to have recovered one TT pistol along with some rounds and one motorbike from his possession. The wounded suspect was taken to the ASH for treatment.

In Sohrab Goth area, three ‘street criminals’ were shot at and wounded in ‘encounter’.

The police said that the encounter took place near ‘Tonight Hotel’ on service road along Superhighway, where after an exchange of fire, three suspects namely Salahuddin, Raziullah and Sultan Hyder were arrested in wounded condition.

They were taken to the ASH.

One TT pistol along with rounds, three cell phones, snatched purse and one motorbike were recovered from their possession.

In Khokhrapar, one robber was arrested following an ‘encounter’.

The police said the encounter took place near Degree College Malir, Khokhrapar, where one suspect, namely Shahrukh, was shot at and arrested while his alleged accomplice managed to escape.

The police claimed to have recovered one TT pistol along with three rounds from his possession. The wounded suspect was taken to the ASH.

One alleged dacoit was injured in an ‘encounter’ in Gulshan-i-Maymar.

The police said the encounter took place near ARY Tower, Karim Shah Road, in Gulshan-i-Maymar where after an exchange of fire, one alleged robber identified as Jalaludin, 30, was arrested with injuries while his two alleged accomplices managed to escape.

The police said one 30-bore pistol along with three rounds and one motorbike were recovered from him.

The injured was taken to the ASH for treatment.

The Site Superhighway Industrial Area police on Saturday evening claimed to have arrested two suspected robbers in injured condition after an encounter.

“An encounter took place between police and robbers at State Bank Society. In an exchange of firing, Mustafa Amir, 25, and Hashim Maroof, 20, got injured and arrested,” said a police officer.

Two pistols and a motorbike were recovered from their custody.

The wounded were shifted to the ASH for treatment.
