Four Zikri pilgrims killed in road accident in Balochistan's Kech

GWADAR: Four pilgrims of the Zikri sect were killed and nine others were injured when their pickup overturned in Lodi Jangjah area of Dasht in Kech district on Tuesday.

They were on their way to Turbat for a pilgrimage to Koh-i-Murad, a shrine located on the outskirts of Turbat town. The pickup carrying the pilgrims skidded and turned upside down in its attempt to cross another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

“Four people, including three women, were killed on the spot while nine others were injured in the incident,” a senior police officer told Dawn.

Police and personnel of other security rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the hospital. Four of the injured people were in critical condition and were later shifted to Karachi.

A large congregation of people from the Zikri sect, mostly comprising Baloch, is held every year on the 27th of Ramazan at Koh-i-Murad in Turbat. Thousands of men and women participate from across Pakistan, whereas many people also come from Gulf states.

Police identified the victims as Kalsoom Bibi, Maheen, Anisa and Hamal.
