Five killed, two hurt as groups clash in Bajaur
BAJAUR: Five people were killed and two others injured in a clash between two groups in Mukha area of Mamond tehsil here late on Wednesday night.
When contacted, an official of the district administration Abdul Wakeel Khan said that firing between the two groups erupted after unknown armed men shot dead a local elder Malik Nawab Khan shortly after Taraveeh prayers on Wednesday night.
He said that soon after the body of Malik Nawab was brought from hospital to his home at about 12:30am a group of family members of Malik Khan Bacha, said to be the former rival of the deceased, visited the house of victim to offer condolences to the affected family.
The official said as the family members of Malik Bacha started offering fateha for the victim, sons of Malik Nawab opened firing on them believing that Bacha’s men were involved in killing of their father. He said that five persons were critically wounded in the firing and four of them later succumbed to their injuries at DHQ hospital, Khar.
He said the deceased were identified asMalik Khan Bacha, 60, Alam Khan, 30, Amir Bacha, 28, and Umar Khan, 27.
A police official told this correspondent that they registered the case against both the groups and had launched efforts to defuse tension.
