Tareen returns home after two-month stay in London

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s disgruntled leader Jahangair Khan Tareen on Friday returned home from England after staying there for two months for his medical treatment.

Mr Tareen has returned to the country just a day before the joint candidate of opposition and PTI dissidents, Punjab Chief Minister elect Hamza Shehbaz takes oath of his office after a prolonged delay.

During his two-month long stay abroad, Mr Tareen had reportedly met PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in London and put his weight behind the opposition parties, parting ways with the PTI for all practical purposes.

His relation with the party chairman and former premier Imran Khan had turned sour following his alleged involvement in a sugar scam and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) probe against him and his family members. He heads a group of PTI dissident parliamentarians called ‘JKT group’.

After having health issues, Mr Tareen had moved to London where he received treatment and was allowed by his doctors to travel back to the country only a few days ago.

He had first arrived in Dubai from London and eventually reached Lahore on Friday.
