Karachi industrialists seek Bilawal’s help for resolution of issues

KARACHI: Foreign Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Sunday asked the Sindh government to set up a business liaison committee with representation from both the industry and officials concerned to resolve issues pertaining to the business community.

He said this during his meeting with a delegation of Karachi industrialists who came with a host of complaints and issues ranging from shortage of gas supply to industrial areas infrastructure and sought his support for solution of their problems.

The meeting was held at Bilawal House.

The meeting, which was also attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, also discussed a plan that could help increase the share of Karachi industrialists in the country’s exports. “The PPP chairman during the meeting issued directives to the Sindh government to set up a liaison committee to resolve issues of the Karachi business community,” said a statement issued by Bilawal House after the meeting.

“The liaison committee and its sub-committees would devise a strategy and propose measures for early resolution of all issues and finalise its execution plan. The Karachi industrials assured the PPP chairman that the city, which is already contributing more than 50 per cent of Pakistan exports, has enough potential to increase its share in overall exports of the country,” it added.
