PML-N targeting institutions, media, says Farrukh

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Central Information Secretary Farrukh Habib on Sunday alleged that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Maryam Nawaz was targeting institutions and senior officers to promote agenda of foreign powers.

Referring to a recent press conference of Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, Mr Habib alleged that she was giving statements in frustration and nation knew its reason.

“The imported government, which has come to power through a foreign conspiracy, has started its tenure with targeting media persons and a number of journalists have lost their jobs because of the incumbent government,” said the former state minister for information.

While criticising policies of the PML-N-led coalition government, the PTI leader said price hike had already made the life of common people miserable.

He also alleged that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officers, who had been investigating money laundering charges against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, were being “targeted”.

“The officers who were investigating the case of Rs16 billion money laundering have been removed and now FIA has been directed to pursue the journalists.

“On the other hand, Maryam Nawaz’s unimpressive public meetings are showing the mood of the people,” he said.

Mr Habib said if Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb still believed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was the most popular party, she should suggest Prime Minister Sharif to hold general elections at the earliest.

He said it was unfortunate that the current government had pushed public into “a forest of price hike” while the PM claimed he would provide flour at the subsidised rate even if he had to sell his clothes. The incumbent government gave only price hike and inflation to the masses, he added.

The PML-N government would not be allowed to delay the general election, he said, claiming that the whole nation was waiting for a call from PTI Chairman Imran Khan to march towards Islamabad.
