Centre asked to release ex-Fata share in NFC Award

BAJAUR: Pakistan Peoples Party, Bajaur chapter, on Wednesday asked the federal government to release the promised merged areas’ share in the National Finance Commission Award under the 25th Constitutional Amendment.

Addressing a news conference at the press club here, PPP district president Sher Bahadar, former MNA Syed Akhunzada Chattan and others pointed out that giving three per cent share to tribal districts in the NFC Award was a major component of constitutional amendment passed in May 2018, merging the former Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

However, they alleged that previous Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led federal government had failed to take any result-oriented steps in that regard despite its eldership’s tall claims in the 2018 general elections.

The PPP leaders were of the view that the release of the share was imperative to bring improvement in the lives of people of tribal districts.

They said the party would launch an effective campaign taking onboard leaders of other parties to push the federal government to implement the decision.

To a question, PPP former MNA Sayed Akhunzada Chattan said they would meet party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and others party leaders before launching the movement.

The PPP leaders also expressed concern about the suspension of the internet service in Bajaur for last several weeks, and asked the relevant authorities to restore the service immediately.
