MANSEHRA: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader retired Captain Mohammad Safdar on Monday said the federal government had approved funds to build a bridge over a river in Kiar area of Darband tehsil here as part of efforts to promote tourism in the region.

Addressing a ceremony held in Shergar area here to inaugurate the laying of gas pipelines, the PML-N leader said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would announce mega projects during a visit to Mansehra district on May 26.

He said the residents of Tanawal area, who depended on firewood, would get natural gas for own use.

Mr Safdar said the project would address pollution and deforestation.

He said his brother MNA Sajjad Awan’s development funds withheld by the PTI’s federal government had been released.

PML-N leader says funds okayed for bridge in Darband

The PML-N leader said his party’s government would ensure electric supply to every village of Tanawal and Darband areas.

Local MNA Sajjad Awan also attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Awami National party MPA from Torghar district and younger brother of PTI Senator Azam Khan Swati has complained that Mr Safdar didn’t hold any public office but still, he was inaugurating development schemes in violation of the law.

Talking to reporters here, he demanded of the authorities to take note of the matter for necessary action.

MINISTER’S VISIT: Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions Senator Talha Mahmood on Monday visited the Pakistan Scout Cadet College, Batrasi, here and met cadets and teachers.

He told students to study wholeheartedly to excel in life for themselves as well as the country.

The minister said youths were the country’s great asset and therefore, schools and colleges should ensure the provision of the best possible education to them besides building their character.

Accompanied by principal Tuaqirul Islam, the senator gave away shields and certificates to high-achieving students.

BODY FOUND: A boy was found dead in his cattle pen in Phamgali area of Oghi tehsil here on Sunday night.

Mohammad Javed claimed that his son, Sameer, 13, had committed suicide by hanging after being reprimanded over his ‘unhealthy’ activities.

The police registered an FIR and began investigation to ascertain the actual cause of suicide.

Meanwhile, around a dozen people, including women, were injured in accidents on Abbottabad Road and Panodheri Road on Monday.

The injured were shifted to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, whose doctors referred some of them to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, due to critical condition.
