JI workers rally for maintenance of law and order in Swabi
SWABI: The local chapter of Jamaat-i-Islami held a rally here on Monday and asked the law enforcement agencies to take steps for maintenance of law and order in the district.
The participants of the rally gathered in the district headquarters and marched to Karnal Sher Khan Chowk where they were addressed by JI leaders. They were holding placards inscribed with slogans for restoration of peace in the district.
The organisers of the rally said that peace was a prerequisite for progress and prosperity. They said that incidents of killing were on the rise in the district for the last few months.
Addressing on the occasion, JI district chief Mian Iftikhar Bacha said that more than 50 people were killed in the district during the last two months. He said that district administration and police were making tall claims about writ of law but people were being killed.

Saeeda Zada, former district chief of JI, said that police failed to protect lives of people. He added that jirga system also failed to deliver.
FIRE: The fire that broke out in the Mangal Chai Mountain in Gadoon Amazai region was brought under control after 12 hours of hectic efforts by Rescue 1122 teams here on Monday.
It was not immediately known as to what was the cause fire eruption. About 30 incidents of fire eruption have occurred during the last one month in the district.
POWER: Power supply to Shahmansoor Township remained suspended for seven hours on Sunday night.
The members of Shahmansoor Township Welfare Association said that power supply to the entire township was suspended at 5pm and was restored after their struggle at midnight.
KILLED: Two women were killed in different incidents here on Monday.
Attaullah of Sikandari village told police that his father, Anwar Khan, shot dead his mother over a domestic issue. Police raided various places to arrest the suspect.
Sabz Ali Khan of Jalbi village said that Ziaullah of the same area forcibly entered their house and killed his daughter. The accused managed to escape. He added that the accused and the victim had exchanged hot words a day ago over a trivial issue.
