Disney goes for a gender-flip in Sneakerella

Disney’s Sneakerella introduces us to El, a young man who dreams of designing his own line of sneakers. He meets Kira King, the daughter of a mega footwear tycoon. She helps El gain the confidence he needs to pursue his dreams.

Chosen Jacobs plays EL and says, “I feel we all could use a little epic-ness, a little fly, a little dance party, I feel like that’s the tone we wanted to set with this movie. Thanks Disney for having faith in me, and the team and my mother for helping me practice all hours of the night!” laughed Jacobs.

Former NBA All-star John Salley plays the sneaker King. He says he just could not say ‘no’ to a role that let him do things he had never done before.

Katy Perry to star in musical feature Melody

Kary Perry is reported to star in the upcoming animated musical feature Melody, from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir producer Jeremy Zag.

The film tells the story of Melody, an insecure young singer who faces off against a wicked pop queen named Rose Stellar. Aiding her in her quest, Melody controls seven musical notes that have magical qualities which keep her on a straight and narrow path.

Perry has worked in animation projects before — she voiced Smurfette in the recent Smurfs franchise reboot and made a cameo appearance on The Simpsons.

Perry will write and perform original songs in Melody.

Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law released trailer

Disney+ released the first trailer for Marvel Studios’ upcoming She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series. The nine-episode superhero comedy series stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, a lawyer who specialises in superhuman-oriented legal cases.

The series will follow the titular hero as she navigates “the complicated life of a single, 30-something attorney who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch super-powered hulk.” The new trailer offered some humorous moments as Walters adjusts to her powers, including the fact that her triggers are anger and fear.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law welcomes a few other MCU veterans, including Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/The Abomination and Benedict Wong as Wong.

The Marvel series is set to premiere August 17 exclusively on the Disney+ streaming service.
