Three robbers held for murder of teenager

MUZAFFARGARH: Police claim to have arrested three gangsters who killed a ninth class student and robbed the family of cash and valuables.

SP Investigation Ziaullah Khan told a press conference on Tuesday that assailants shot dead 14-year-old Muhammad Arif during a robbery at Alipur a few months ago.

He said DPO Tariq Wilayat formed a special team to arrest the gangsters. He said three armed men entered Sadiq Hussain’s house at Mauza Beit Mullanwali and shot dead Arif who offered resistance.

The police team worked day in and day out to trace the suspects and finally arrested Altaf Hussain, Muhammad Bilal and Muhammad Aslam with a pistol, a Kalashnikov, a repeater and Rs30,000.

The SP said the gangsters fled to Iran after committing the crime. They were involved in dozens of criminal cases.

FLOUR MILLS SEALED: The district administration sealed five flour mills in Multan for hoarding.

Officials launched crackdown on hoarders and sealed five mills. Another mill was fined Rs50,000.

Deputy Commissioner Tahir Wattoo said 56 flour selling points had been set up in the district where 10kg flour was being provided at 490 and 20kg bag at 980.

Mr Wattoo said there would be no shortage of flour in any case.

District Food Controller Ahmed Javed gave a briefing.

SPURIOUS FERTILISER: Officials of Agriculture Extension Department seized 600 bags of spurious fertilisers and arrested some people on Tuesday.

They said 500 bags of NP fertiliser and 100 bags of BOP fertiliser were being prepared and loaded in the truck. Those arrested included Rao Almas (company owner), Asad Nawaz (manager), Ali Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Shafiq, Mohammad Azeem and Mohammad Aslam.

The Basti Maluk police registered a case FIR No. 491/22 under the Punjab Fertilizer Control Order. The suspects did not have a licence to manufacture fertiliser nor did they have a store or any record.
