Several schools found violating summer break

LAHORE: Several private school chains on Wednesday continued their morning classes despite the clear directions of the Punjab School Education Department about the initiation of summer vacations from June 1.

The government announced summer vacations in public and private schools from June 1 to July 31 in the province. The government also directed the district education authority to take action against the schools opening during this period.

Private school chains did not observe summer vacation and in the name of completing the course work, they called students to attend the class in colour dress. They would continue classed for a week or two. Also, a school chain in Samanabad has started online classes for children.

Parents say it is becoming difficult to pick up and drop off the children in heat.

Lahore DEA Chief Executive Officer Pervaiz Akhtar said five teams were constituted to raid schools in different areas of the city and take action against the violators. The schools found open were fined.

He said the teams would submit reports to his office daily.
